Performance

Most people tend to think the visual art of Live Motion Graphics and something like solo performance or improvisational theater are completely different forms, but for me they have quite a bit in common. Both rely on a great deal of spontaneity that can only exist if one has collected lots of material to play with: in one case images, video clips, effects and controllers – in the other memories and stories and voices and physical life. I really like doing both.

Slumdog Millionaire

I went out with a friend on NYE and saw Slumdog Millionaire, Danny Boyle’s new movie and literally had my breath taken away by the incredible energy and passion on the screen.  Some critics didn’t like the way the plot jumps back to the past when Jamaal explains how he knew the answer to a question, but for me it all worked perfectly.  I guess its a matter of taste but I found it deeply affecting to see the same character as a young boy, a teen and a young man all in desperate struggles for surivial.  I think I’m going to have to watch Trainspotting again.
